Celebrating 1st Birthday with a Cake Smash

To mark his first year around the sun, we did a cake smash at the beautiful Lagoon View Nursery and Gardens grounds; always a favourite of mine!

Little man was all smiles and full of curiosity as he began to explore the cake texture and taste. His sweet eyes lit up when he delved deeper into the middle and enjoyed squishing it before putting it into his mouth. Needless to say, he did not stay clean for long and there was more cake on him than on the plate. His face exuded pure happiness and joy!

Cake smash is a good experience to play with textures

His big sister joined him next to the cake and they had some giggles before she taste-tested the goods carefully. He crawled towards her and tried to grab at her with his icing-filled hands as she squealed and ran away. She remained clean and cake-free but he wore the cake like a second skin with it covering his legs, feet, arms and hair. Who knew this little cake monster could be so adorable!

Such a cutie

Big sister love

These two beautiful children have such gorgeous eyes and smiles with laughs that could light up the darkest nights. Big sister was showing me her dance moves, and how fast she could run and jump. And yes, she was fast!

If you ever have ever had mixed thoughts or feelings about whether to do a cake smash to mark an occasion, I would highly recommend. It showcases your bubba exploring textures and captures their innocence and curiosity.

Exploring the cake is a whole body experience

The real, raw images help document a time in your life where time flies by way too quickly. Before too long, our first birthdays become our second, fifth, or our sixteenth.

Time is precious. Capture as much as you can.
